Everyone in this room has been bullied in one way or another, and everyone in this room has also been a bully. Bullying can be many different things and people can also be bullied in many different ways. People often get bullied because of race, sexuality or religious views. Bullying also occurs in more than one place; bullying can occur at school, at home, in the work place or on the sporting field. There are many different types of bullying including verbal, physical, social or psychological. Everyone gets bullied by one of these ways at least once in their life.
An example of bullying is from the novel “Came Back to Show You I Could Fly”. The main character, Seymour is bullied for being meek and small and because of his daggy clothes. The first time the bullies start to harass him he runs away because he’s scared of them. The second time towards the end of the book when the bullies come back for him, Seymour sticks up for himself and convinces the bullies to leave him alone. This example of bullying happens out side of school, which shows that bullying can happen anywhere.
Another example of bullying is people making groups saying something bad about a certain person. These groups get made on any website such as MySpace or Facebook. People can be seriously affected by these groups, some people get depressed and purposely injure themselves, sometimes even kill themselves. People get bullied over the internet or through technology all the time such as talking in chat rooms, on a social networking site or through texting.
The worst examples of bullying are the ones that end with people committing suicide because they feel as if they can’t take it anymore. A 14-year-old school girl in Saitama City committed suicide by hanging herself after being bullied by her classmates on the Internet, her two classmates posted insulting messages about her on her online profile.
