BRITAIN’S DRINK PROBLEM

This paper reports the finding of economic and social impacts of Britain’s drink problem and influences of government policy for the problem. The biggest drink problem is lots of people (nearly 9,000 people) died each year because of alcohol related diseases. Also young people drinking too much are another problem Britain faces. Alcohol gives people jobs, produces the revenues of the alcohol taxes, and produce about £2.7 billion in 2007 from the trade of alcohol in Britain. (ONS, 2007). The custom of British people is drink as an accompaniment to meals, although it is unproblematic by lots of people, a number of people is problematic and harm for individuals and society.

Drinks too much have lots of impacts of social. For example, when individual has much alcohol, the alcohol in the body will influence their judgment and coordination. It can lead to a miserable happening, such as a traffic distress. Lots of alcohol can impact one's increase sex drive and hormone level. Alcohol consumption maybe results in invasion others people, and lead to have contradiction with friends due to loss them and can damage relationship between you and your family. It is also bring problems for kids and older. Since the 1950s, the consumption of alcohol in the Britain has progressively increased. The NHS now spends lots of on alcohol-related illness among baby boomers than any other age level, with £825m spent on 55 to 74-year-olds in 2010-11 compared to £64m on under-24s.(BBC News, 2012. )

Another impact of drink problem is more and more teenagers join the consumers of alcohol, Alcohol-related hospital admissions.
