Implications for Early Childhood Educators
      The article has lined out that helping to build a toddler’s bridge to literacy is one of the fundamental duties and responsibilities of an Early Childhood Educator (ECE). It is in these years that an infant is developing their understanding of the surroundings and relations with the people around them. Communication is key to help develop and maintain a healthy mindset for the infant. As ECE, one should provide them with a proper environment, outline of activities, and to communicate with their parents.
    The environment is important to help develop the brain to capture the variables of literacy. A toddler will learn best through their experiences, sight, and sound. The environment the ECE should include: rhyme books, nurseries, audio-visualised books, letter blocks, markers, blank pieces of paper, toys of different shapes and objects. The ECE must also provide time for the toddlers to interact with their peers so they can share their experiences and start orally communicating.
    There are certain activities that an ECE can imply in their care that will be beneficial for the toddler. These activities could be reading out loud to them, as this was mentioned in the article. They can also provide the child with colourful markers and pieces of paper where they can scribble and doodle. They can also provide them with puzzles, and games to help them understand their context in time and place.
    The relation between the ECE and the toddler’s parents is important so that the ECE can allow them to incorporated activities that the infant can benefit from. They can be told to read to their children every day to help them hone their experiences with sound, world, writing and memory skills.
