Breastfeeding In Public
I am a mother of two very wonderful kids, still currently breastfeeding one of them. When I go out to the store or out for dinner and have to breastfeed him I am constantly being gawked at. I don’t really understand the reason people are so against it, it’s not like I am flashing the world, I am doing it in a respectable manner. I am only nurturing my child and trying to give him the best start in life I possibly can. I can see how some people can find it uncomfortable to watch me undress and get him to latch on, but after that part is over I am completely covered up with my blanket.
So why not pump and feed through a bottle in public? Well its simple, some moms just don’t have the time to do so. When you are juggling multiple children it’s hard enough having a baby attached to your breast! Plus, if you introduce your baby to a bottle to soon it may confuse them and you’re stuck with just the bottle because they won’t latch on to your breast. It’s a well-known fact that a breastfed baby is less likely to get sick, less likely to get constipated, and it helps the brain develop faster. The antibodies you have received also get passed to your baby through your breast milk, that’s what they are less likely to get sick. They are less gassy because not as much air gets in their belly, which leads to a happy and more content baby. There are other benefits to breast feeding it develops such a great bond between you and your child. I love it because that’s time that no one can take away from me, even when I want to catch a couple more hours of sleep. Now I can see the opposite side of this as well. People get charged with public indecency every day for not wearing cloths, why is breastfeeding any different. How about the old saying “No shoes, No shirt, No service”? It’s more offensive to someone who hasn’t had kids, then someone with the experience and knowledge of what it does for your child. If you take into consideration of other people...
