Abstract

The purpose of this research paper is to inform others of the disease of breast cancer. Many people may believe that breast cancer can only affect women; however it can also be developed in men. Because breast cancer is one of the most common diseases among women, there is a great deal of support and awareness.

Breast Cancer was discovered by Ancient Egyptians Edwin Smith and George Ebers papyri 3,500 years ago. Hippocrates, The father on western Medicine, described breast cancer as a humoral disease. Breast Cancer is one of the most common diseases among women, but not only women Men also can be diagnosed with breast cancer. The three major treatments of breast cancer are surgery, radiation, and drug therapy.

Breast Cancer can be present for years without causing any symptoms. The first sign that something is wrong for most women is when they find a lump in the breast or the nearby armpit. Usually, in the early stages it is not painful, although sometimes there is some discomfort. When it is at a more advanced stage it is more likely to be painful, and might feel as though it is fixed to the overlying skin or underlying muscles. Sometimes the nipple develops a discharge or becomes inverted it is tethered to underlying tissues or looks red or scaly.
