Mind Reader is a new innovated technology, which got its existence in 2003. With the help of this technology, the artificial limbs are controlled & synchronized by the brain. The device is designed to help those who have lost control of their limbs, such as patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or spinal cord injury. The computer chip, which is implanted into the brain, monitors brain activity in the patient and converts the intention f the user into computer commands. This device called as, ”BRAIN GATE”, has its origin in Rhode islands, U.S.A. Professor John, as the father of this invention, has given a new life to Mathew Nagle & a hope to other paralyzed persons.

Nagle, who is paralyzed under his neck, is now able to bunch the fingers of palm. So he is the first person in history to be able to control an artificial limb using a device implemented into the brain, which could read his thoughts.

The device,” BRAIN GATE”, is a tiny baby pill sized device measuring 4*4 mm, inserted in the motor cortex, which is responsible for limb movement. It contains tiny electrodes leading to a titanium base on the skull that’s coupled to a computer. Currently the chip uses 100 hair-thin electrodes that sense the electro magnetic signatures of neurons firing in specific areas of the brain, for example, the area that controls arm movement. The activity is translated into electrically charged signals and is then sent and decoded using a program, which can move either a robotic arm or computer cursor.

So this all means, there’s a great hope for paralyzed people to lead a more substantial life than merely a prolonged semi-vegetative existence. Also, with increasing miniaturization & wireless connectivity medical science can expect to synchronize the brain with limbs so that ease of mobility can be restored.

After all this, it would not be wrong to say:-

“The Power of Thought could indeed move Mountains..!!! ”
