Most people understand that healthy food is good for your physical health, but what about your mental health? There is a lot of mounting evidence that the way you eat affects your mental state as much as your physical state. That doesn’t mean eating certain foods will make you smarter, but it does mean certain brain foods will help your mind perform at an optimum level. An athlete wouldn’t dare fill his or her body with fast food because they would get poor results. So as a college student you should fill your body with brain foods for better results. Read on to discover some brain foods that may help boost your academic performance.

Green Tea

Green tea is a natural food filled with a substance called polyphenols. According to scientists and nutritionists, polyphenols protect your mind from fatigue and increase the natural production of dopamine. Increased dopamine helps you feel more positive, energetic and focused. When it comes to studying and taking tests – energy and positivity go along way. Green tea is nature’s energy drink that’s actually good for you.

Scrambled Eggs

Eggs are great for students because they are easy to prepare and very inexpensive. Plus, they are loaded with choline, which has been proven to help people remember and recall information. Choline is a b vitamin that our bodies need – and apparently our minds. It should be noted that choline is actually found in the egg yolk and not the white. If you’re concerned about the fat content in the yolk you can always mix in a few yolks with some egg whites to cut back on the fat while still getting the necessary choline.
