This week I read Red Land, Black Land by Barbara Mertz. Ancient Egypt Red Land, Black Land is an in summary of Egyptian every day life. The author explains ways of life from child hood to death. She also talks about the topics of pets, women, queens, kings clothing, jewelry, towns, houses, education, magic, religion, science, medicine, mathematics and the construction of the pyramids. In this book they speak of two different lands, one being the Red Land and the other the Black. The book talks about the tool and soils that each land had and what made one better than the other. Red Land, Black Land also talks about the different time periods from the old to the middle and the new Kingdoms. The author describes each time period going into depth for example, the end of their rule it spoke of Greek and Romans coming in and changing their way of life and society.

If you are not interested in information and history about the Egyptians I would not recommend this book, but if you are interested about the history of ancient Egyptian I would recommend it highly. I enjoyed reading this book because it was easy for me to understand what the author was talking about. It was easy for me to understand what was happening because the author related things about ancient Egyptians to how the world is today. Also the were some really interesting fact for example Egyptians drank beer instead of water because the water was sometimes infected with illnesses.
The writing style in this book is very descriptive. The writing style is descriptive because sometimes when the author is trying to explain what the enviorment looks like she will explain it by telling a story and talking about all the things you would see.
