Our Banquet Supervisors for the help and inspiration they extended, and made me learn a lot of new things. For they have shared their experiences, and efforts.

And to all the personnel’s of Manila Grand Opera Hotel who took care of us, and helped me a lot in finishing this training within the limited time. Together with my co-ojts whom I shared my practicum days, they have helped me a lot for I’m a tourism student.

II.Introduction:

On the job training or practicum is a way for us, students, to be given an opportunity to apply the theories that we have learned from our school. It also helps us to obtain an applicable knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting. College and Universities requires their students to undergo such training within a specific number of hours as part of the curriculum. For me, a practicum is something that provides us opportunities for us to go through the actual methodologies of a specific job using the real tools, equipments and documents. In effect the workplace becomes a development venue for us student trainee to learn more about our chosen field and practice what we have learned from the university. For us to learn more effectively, gain more knowledge, and be responsible. Our school encourages us to do our OJT to be able to experience how it was like to be on the field, and to be able to show everything that we have learned from their lessons. It’s like from the classroom to real working ground.

On the other hand, a valuable OJT/Practicum program also profits the companies who accept trainees. First trainee provides extra manpower for a significant labor cost than a regular employee. Most of them are eager to learn the ropes so chances are high that they will cooperate. Employers can use this strategy as method of recruiting employees. Since the trainer or supervisor can follow the specific requirements they tend to find on their potential employees.

It’s the significant time for use to show what we have learned for 4 years. The knowledge we have absorbed through them.
