This movie begins as a man named Solomon gets captured when the rebels of a war that’s going on, invade Solomon’s village. Solomon becomes enslaved and is forced to work in the diamond fields under the command of Captain Poison. When he got captured he got separated from his family. The rebels group that captured Solomon is called the Revolutionary United Front (RUF). The RUFD use the diamonds to support and fund their war effort. They trade the diamonds for guns and armed weapons.
During his time working in the RUF diamond fields, Solomon finds a pink diamond inside a broken pipe in the fields. Solomon says that he has to go to the restroom, but he really tires hides the diamond and bury it. Solomon doesn’t know it but Captain Poison sees him try to stash the diamond away. Right before Caption Poison is about to get the diamond that Solomon hid, there is an attack by government troops, and both he and Solomon are taken prisoner. Another man named Danny Archer was also taken prisoner, who is of assistance to Solomon during the movie. While in prison Captain Poison finds out about the large diamond and tries to hunt it down. He arranges for Solomon’s release from prison and offers to help find his family in exchange for the diamond.
Solomon and Archer find a woman named Maddy who helps Solomon track down his family. Later a convoy is attacked and the remaining news teams are killed, while Archer, Solomon and Bowen escape from the scene. Solomon runs into Colonel Coetzee a man who also wants the diamond and who almost kills Solomon and Archer, but he doesn’t because Solomon persuades him to come back home with him. There is a plane coming to pick them up now, but Archer is hit by a gun and slowly is losing blood and ends up getting left. Solomon ends up escaping Africa, and travels to London with the help of Bowen. Solomon ends up trading the diamond for 2,000,000, and reunites with his family.
