 Reading
 “If
 you
 shoot
 you
 will
 win!”
 out
 of
 a
 bright
 red,
 perfectly
 squared
 box,
in
big,
chunky,
black
letters
in
the
toys
aisle
at
the
supermarket
might
 sound
 intriguing
 by
 calling
 your
 attention,
 and
 making
 you
 smile,
 right?
 It’s
 not
even
funny
if
a
child
feels
the
same,
though.

 A
year
ago,
I
experienced
something
really
attention-grabbing
that
made
my
 vision
 towards
 toy
 guns
 change
 completely.
 Walking
 out
 of
 the
 Pirates
 of
 the
Caribbean
ride
at
Disney
World
Orlando,
a
father
was
having
a
serious
 talk
with
one
of
the
magically
disguised
vendor
at
the
gift
shop.

 “It
is
simply
impossible
that
Disney
is
formulating
violence
in
the
society
with
 all
the
toy
guns
and
swords
they
are
selling.
Putting
Mickey
Mouse
dressed
 as
an
innocent
pirate
in
the
package
of
a
fake
gun
in
a
children’s
park
is
not

a
bright
way
to
gain
money,
if
that
is
what
you
want.
The
only
goal
you
are
 reaching
 is
 making
 a
 kid
 want
 to
 buy
 it
 because
 they
 see
 their
 favorite
 character
 on
 it
 with
 a
 slogan
 that
 reads:
 “The
 Pirate’s
 Pistol
 ”.
 What
 a
 shame,
Disney,
what
a
shame.

 Wait,
 that
 was
 not
 the
 only
 recent
 news
 in
 my
 life
 that
 made
 me
 write
 this
 article.
 There
 is
 one
 left.
 Last
 week,
 my
 aunt
 called
 my
 mother
 to
 tell
 her
 that
 my
 4-year-old
 boy
 cousin
 was
 expulsed
 out
 of
 his
 preschool
 because
 he
pretended
to
kill
one
of
his
mates
with
an
imaginary
weapon.
I
asked
her
 how
 did
 he
 know
 how
 guns
 worked.
 But…
 BOOM!
 My
 aunt’s
 answer
 was:
 “He
made
me
buy
4
 Nerf
guns
at
Wong
on
Sunday
because
everybody
had
 them
 and
 the
 box
 itself
 drove
 him
 crazy
 with
 all
 the
 colors,
 slogans,
 and
 shapes
it
had.
It
is
the
newest
toy
in
Lima,
he
had
to
have
it!”

 Equally
 important,
 the
 fantasy
 world
 of
...
