St Philomena’s Primary School
Homework Policy for Senior Classes.

3rd Class:

Homework is given to 3rd class to reinforce the work covered during the day.

If it is not done properly your child may fall behind the rest of the class.

The following are the expectations regarding homework in 3rd class:

¬Each child should spend up to30 minutes but not more than 40 minutes on homework each evening. ¬If for any reason your child could not complete a part of the homework, a note must be sent in the following day. ¬Please check and sign your daughter’s homework notebook every night. ¬Go over all learning work with your child. This testing aids retention.

4th Class:

In 4th class, children will have homework from Monday to Thursday (inclusive).

Parents should check that all work has been done each evening, hear tables, spellings, litriú and reading. Please sign journal to indicate that this has been done. Homework should take 30 – 40 minutes.

5th & 6th class:

Homework is given to 5th and 6th class to reinforce the work covered during the day.

If it is not done properly your child may fall behind the rest of the class.

The following are the expectations regarding homework in 6th class:

¬Each child should spend up to but not more than 1 hour on homework each evening. ¬If for any reason your child could not complete a part of the homework, a note must be sent in the following day. ¬¬Go over all learning work with your child. This testing aids retention.

• If you need to notify the teacher of anything you can do so in the journal, as it is checked each day. • Any questions or concerns regarding homework should be directed to the class teacher.
