a. Career- Biomedical Engineering

b. What they do- Biomedical engineers are the people who analyze and design solutions to problems in biology and medicine. They usually have a goal of improving the quality and effectiveness of patient’s care. Their duties are mainly to design systems and products, such as artificial organs or artificial devices that replace body parts as people have problems with their organs. They also install, adjust, maintain, repair and produce technical support for the biomedical equipment which includes working with safety, efficiently and effectively. These biomedical engineers trains clinicians and teach them how to use the equipment properly. Their main duty is to work with other scientists, chemists and medical scientists to research the engineering aspects of biological systems of humans and animals.

c. Work environment- These biomedical engineers were given about 15,700 jobs in 2012 and these people work in variety of settings, depending on what they do. Some work in hospitals, others work in laboratories and most of them work in commercial offices where they make or support business decisions. They usually have a good time working with their patients and in teams with other professionals. Where and how they work are often determined by the needs of many people.

d. How to become one- Biomedical engineers typically needs bachelor’s degree from an accredited program to enter the occupation. People can get bachelor’s degree in a different field of engineering and then either get a graduate degree in biomedical engineering or get on-the-job training in biomedical engineering. Bachelor’s degree program basically focuses on engineering and biological science. Biomedical engineering student needs to take high school science courses such as chemistry physics and biology. They should also study mathematics including calculus. Courses of drafting or mechanical drawing and computer programming can...
