Christian bioethical teachings come from two main areas, Natural Law and Authority.   Christians believe that humans were created in the likeness of God.   That he was the creator of all, and created humans with the ability to discern right from wrong.   This moral law is known as the Natural Law, God created people perfectly and therefore they have a moral conscience to know what is good and what is evil.
Abortion is the termination of an embryo.   There are many issues involved in the bioethical argument of abortion.   Christians believe that every life is sacred and is a gift from God, as the Creator of all, and that people are created in the image of God.   By terminating an unborn child, it is going against the commandment “Thou shalt not kill” (Exodus 20:13).
Euthanasia is the killing of a person in order to end that persons suffering. Christians believe it is their duty to protect the life given to them by God, and therefore are opposed to euthanasia.   This act goes against the commandment “Thou shalt not kill”.   Christians believe it is up to God to decide when a life is to end,
The main issue that the church stresses is ultimately, the preservation of life.   As life is a gift from God, and people are made in the likeness of God, it is against God’s will to deliberately end a life.
