Billy Graham the American Evangelist
Billy Graham is well known for being the American Evangelist who led the “crusades” or preaching tours throughout most of the major U.S. cities, Europe, Africa, South America, Asia, Australia, and Russia. He spoke heavily on the doings of God and the revival of life through a very Christian scope. Billy Graham held strong morals and values for family, sex within marriage, and social issues being that we based all of life around the laws and teachings of the Lord. From the teachings of Billy Graham, it is clear that God is important and a core value to all of life. It is evident that his teachings are very conservative, clear, and Christian based because of their strong ties to the teachings of the bible and Lord. For him, family is the center of all and is the most important institution in the world. From his crusades one learned how family came before everything else- it was what God wanted from a start. Graham strongly believed that a family was the core to all and it could endure all because if a family prayed together, and was active in loving God they were much better off. Which is true, it is always seen amongst the community how those from a Christian background are always much more united and to together like God would want. Family in his eyes- and several others- is an important aspect of all good on Earth and peace because it is a family that one learns goals, integrity, and values (Hirshberg, 1994). Of course, for a family to be created, a couple must be married- another sacred institution through his eyes and those of the Christian belief. It is only once that a couple is married that they are allowed to share the “holy gift” of sex. Graham preached always that sex should only be shared between two people that were married under God because he gave us that gift to share.
