I prefer to use the NIV for personal reading, for the sake of reading, but for a deeper look I use the combination, of the NIV, ESV, and the KJ. The NIV, and ESV help to make the text easier for me to understand, while the KJ, gives it a more accurate feel, with the poetry style used in that translation. The KJ and the ESV are both very close in there translation to being an actual work for word translation.
Matt 20: 16
NIV
“So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”
KJ
So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen
NKJ
So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.”
NLT
So those who are last now will be first then, and those who are first will be last
ESV
So the last will be first, and the first last.”

The NIV, and the ESV are the same, while The KJ and the NKJ are only different by the punctuation.
Galatians 3:24
NIV
So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith.
KJ
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
NKJ
Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
NLT
Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith.
ESV
So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by

As humans live in this world, laws and regulations are strictly enforced for the justice, safety, and rights of the humans. Whether those laws are eternal or temporal, all laws require standards. Saint Augustine’s On the Free Choice of the Will discusses these standards and defines what each laws mean. Most importantly, Augustine argues that eternal law is necessary for temporal law to exist and for the nation to function properly. I agree with Augustine’s argument on the necessity of both eternal law and human law and the belief of how temporal law is based on eternal law.…

Jesus summarized the Law and Prophets in Matthew 22:37-40. But the Sermon on the Mount best delivers insight into the mind of Christ regarding his view on this subject. He told his audience, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them” (Matt 5:17). Jesus easily identifies his position here. From Romans 3:31, Paul validates what Jesus is saying. The fulfillment of the law is then established or fulfilled through faith in Christ Jesus. The Law means nothing if salvation and righteousness can take place from the fulfillment of an imperfect Law; therefore faith confirms the Law’s integrity.…

Continuing in this thought, I feel the bulk of this essay is composed with a limited understanding of the relationships between the scriptures recorded in Matthew, Romans, Galatians and even Colossians as they relate to keeping the law. Colossians explains the stance that I hold most clearly. Here the scripture asks that they let no one judge the way they practice the law “which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ”. [2] In my opinion, all the Old Testament laws were a shadow of the law as Jesus Christ…

Law is good. Man, in his needs, has different motivations for law in society. His secular needs require striving for justice, social stability, and punishment. However, in the area of religious influence, law should promote morality so that believers can get close to God or be separated and condemned by God. As man and society evolves, the purpose of law has remained the same – to punish and deter.…

    Hammurabi History

Throughout history laws play a major role in the expansion of civilization in which most of these principles and rituals acted as a moral and ethical guide for the way humans could live. When taking a closer look at the foundation for today's laws and justice system historically, society can trace the first origins back to the Babylonian Empire by the great ruler, King Hammurabi around 1800 BC known as the The Code Of Hammurabi. Many are familiar with the old saying “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” but little do most know that very thinking is the set basis just for what Hammurabi was trying to bring to his people such as order and unity by giving protection in equal law for all citizens to follow.…

The laws were needed to maintain order and they were for the to prevent injust acts from happening, but at the same time prohibited people to be free. A quote from the Apology after Socrates was convicted, stated, Now I shall depart, convicted by you and sentenced to death, while they go convicted by truth of villainess injustice(18). This statement would seem to say that a person is born free under the laws of justice, but already in chains by those same laws because they, the free born, cannot examine themselves to find There is no less difference between rule over a free person and rule over slaves, than between what is by nature free and what is by nature slavish(186). Any rule or authority puts chains on the people whether it is for order or punishment.…
