Join a team already formed and operating in your place of work or community (e.g. church group, scouts, homeless shelter, other clubs/organizations). I chose to participate in a church function at a church I do not usually attend. The church, Life Bridge Inner City Ministries, provides meals, clothing, and spiritual leadership to the homeless. Every Monday evening they have prayer and dinner for anyone who wants to attend. The past couple of weeks I have volunteered my time to help out and serve. •• What is the purpose of the team? Who are the members in your team with whom you will interact during this course?
The purpose of this team is to provide food, clothing, and spiritual leadership to those who are less fortunate. The team is comprised of church members, missionaries, and volunteers from Savannah and the surrounding areas. The team has a duel leadership. It is lead by Pastor Johnathan Brown and his wife, Sharon Brown. Their co-pilots in this endeavor are another husband wife team who moved to Savannah about a year and a half ago, Brother Allen Osborne and Sister Donna Osborne. These are the only four steady members to this team. Everyone else comes and goes as they are needed. Pastor Johnathan and Brother Allen pick up and drop off all volunteers and clients. Together with their spouses they plan and prepare meals, sort through clothing, visit the despondent and ill, and provide emotional support and moral guidance to the people surrounding them. They make no judgments on anyone 's life style and offer moral and emotional support for those in need.

•• Do you already interact with these people? If so, do you typically act in a leadership role with these individuals or non-leadership role? What role are you taking in this assignment? (It is recommended you switch to a role you do not usually have. This will give you a different and more meaningful learning experience).
Until recently I did not have any interaction with the members

As a team, we started off by establishing that we wanted to work with a non-profit involved with refugees and immigrants. This is because it is currently one of the biggest topics in the United States and the presidential debate. We became a group because we all were individually passionate about the issue and wanted to make as big of a difference as possible to help immigrants integrate into American lifestyle. We then met up, got to know each other a little bit better and how we work in teams, and finally started to research some non-profits in the local area. After researching for a brief while, we decided to pursue working with Higher Ground International, which caters to refugees coming to America from Western Africa. Our team leader went on to contact some board members from Higher Ground, and they wanted to get to know us better. As a result, we volunteered at a Cultural Gala they hosted at a hotel in Providence. After volunteering at this gala, we learned more about this organization and some potential problems that we may want to fix with our project.…

Everyday we went somewhere different, and about three days into the trip my family group leader had announced to my group that we would be going to the homeless shelter, I was actually thrilled by the fact that we were going. This was the one thing that I actually wanted to do. When we got there, we immediately started passing out food to all the people, after we were done surviving all the people, we had the chance to go and talk to them. Not only was it fun to get to know them and listen to there stories, but the looks on there faces when we were talking to them was honestly so priceless. You could tell how happy they all were that we were there to talk to them and asks them about their…

A team is a coordinated group of people organized to work together to achieve a specific, common goal (Beebe, Beebe & Ivy (2013). I am in a small re-promote team that goes to different stores in Murphy USA (my employer) in the Houston area to re-promote the stores that need to boost their sales. We also go to help with the opening of new stores. We have raffles for customers to win different prizes, games for children to play, and we serve hot dogs, nachos, and drinks to the customers for free. We also will lower our gas price lower than our competitor’s for as long as the re-promote lasts (4 hours) to bring in current and potential customers. There are about 10 members on the team. We all have assigned duties and positions that we perform when we go to the different stores. Teams have a strong sense of purpose and a well-structured, clear, and coordinated plan to achieve the goals of the team, without a clear goal, teams will falter (Beebe, Beebe & Ivy (2013).…
