Behavioral Observation Paper
When starting this project, I chose my grandmother, Norma, because of the way she deals with stressful situations, or what she considers stressful situations. My grandmother was born in a much different time. She was born September 23, 1923. Yes that’s right, 89 years ago. I can only imagine how much change she has witnessed throughout her lifetime. She married my grandpa in 1943 and they were married 61 years before he passed away. They spent their whole lives together. When my grandpa passed away she had a very rough time adjusting to a life without him in it. She actually did very well considering that my grandpa always did everything, but it was still very hard on her. Big Changes:
In 2009 my mother, my children, and myself moved out here from Arizona to be closer to my grandma. It had been about 5 years since my grandpa passed. When we arrived we had to stay at my grandmas for about 2 weeks until we were able to move into our house. Now you have to understand that my grandma had not been around any children for a while, and when she was it was only for short visits here and there. When we moved in it was a major change for her. My children are, for the most part, well behaved but they are children (boys), so you can imagine what that would be like for a woman who was 85 at the time. She was used to living alone just her and her cat Tom peaceful and quiet. I know she was experiencing stress I could see it. She would get quiet or shake her head and sometimes I would even hear her talking under her breath. My poor grandma I felt so bad for her. I think she was just used to the way things had been for so many years and it was definitely a shock for her. But my grandma being who she is never wants to say anything that she thinks might hurt someone’s feelings. I would ask her if anything was wrong and she would always say...
