Beowulf Movie Essay
I read the poem Beowulf and also watched the movie there were much differences between both. In the poem the reason why Grendal came to attack the village was because he was hearing the people singing songs about religion but in the movie Grendal just came because he was just hearing them sing and because his mother told him to. In the poem Unferth is a Christian and in the movie he is a stuck up drunk. In the poem I feel like Beowulf is more like a man but in the movie he is seen like a super hero. In the movie he lies about why he lost the swimming race but in the poem he does not lie and he tells his story. Also Hrothgar in known to be a womanizer/ drunk when in the poem he was a noble king. In the poem it does not say anything about Hrothgar being Grendals father because he slept with Grendals mother. In the movie Grendals mother was a beautiful lady but in the poem she was actually an ugly monster. In the poem Grandals mother comes back for the arm of her child which in the movie she doesn’t leave the cave and doesn’t really care until she kills all of the soldiers. In the poem he does not give Grandels mother a gold horn as a deal for him to become a mighty king. In the poem Beowulf actually kills Grendals mother but in the movie he sleeps with her and comes back to the town and tells them that he killed her. In the poem Beowulf is not a liar. In the movie when he goes to the cave to find he goes with another man as back up but in the poem he goes alone to face the beast. In the movie Beowulf is cursed till he is an old man because of the promise he made Grendals mother. Also no where in the poem does it say instead of fighting Grendals mother he has to fight a big fire spiting dragon. In the poem he does not stay with the queen on Denmark either. In the poem Beowulf does not have a child with Grendals mother which becomes a dragon the Beowulf has to kill at the end of the movie. In the poem Beowulf goes back to the land of Geats and...
