Ben & Jerry's Homemade, Inc., produces super premium ice cream, frozen yogurt, and ice cream, filled with big chunks of cookies and candy. Ben & Jerry's was founded in May 1978. Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield opened an ice cream shop in Burlington, Vermont. In the beginning, Ben & Jerry's store was selling 12 flavors, producing with an old-fashioned rock salt ice cream maker and locally made milk and cream. Currently, I can say in United States, the company is leading the market with their more than 40 flavors. Company also franchises some 750 Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops worldwide.

The company known by using all natural ingredients, and insists its dairy suppliers not use BGH (Bovine Growth Hormone) on their drove. Bovine Growth Hormone is man-made hormone which increase milk production in cows. Event hough, BGH has been used in the United States since it was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 1993, it could increase cancer risk in human body. Moreover, its products are packed in unbleached cardboard containers, which makes company successful in global operation, with sales in USA, Europe and Asia.

In 2000, Unilever bought the company, however Ben&Jerry's Homemade still able to retain their social responsibility area and both co-founders still involve with product development and improvement.Their brands complement Unilever's existing ice cream brands.

The company sells their products with branded names such as Chunky Monkey, Phish Food, and Cherry Garcia, and in 2009, the brand ''Chunky Monkey'' was named in a top ten list of the best ice cream in London.

Ben & Jerry's also known by their donations. The company donates a minimum of $1.1 million of pretax profits to philanthropic causes yearly. The company sponsors Partner Shops, which are owned and operated by nonprofit organizations such as Goodwill Industries, they also involved in other good causes, including; gun control and saving family farms, global warming.
