Belief Paper
"Belief Paper" I am a huge daddy's girl. I always follow behind him, especially when I was little. I still do most of the time when we are together. My dad is a very independent person. He would work outside and build fences by himself, go camping and do all different kinds of handyman things, and I would help. He works many jobs and he's just an independent person when it comes to a lot of different things. Our personalities are just alike and everyone says I act just like him. He pretty much rubs off on me with everything he does. Because of these past experiences, I believe that you should train up a child the way he or she should go, even when he or she is old they will not depart from it. My dad is a very strong man, physically and mentally. Whenever I needed advice or help with something, he showed me the correct way to handle things. He brought me up to be just like him. Being around my dad all the time, and just doing things like he does makes me believe that with anything I need done, I can do myself and that I don't need anyone's help. I inherited his worth ethic as well. I try to keep a job just so I won't need anyone's help with anything. I have a huge ego and a lot of pride. I hate asking anyone for anything. Seeing my dad do everything he needs himself, made me really want to grow up and do the same thing. As I got older, when I started working, I didn't want help with anything. Once I realized that I could do everything on my own, I figured I shouldn't have to ask anyone for anything. All in all, my beliefs are my beliefs. My dad exposed me to many things that others aren't exposed to. That's one of the main reasons I am the way that I am today. I believe that if you train up a child the way he or she should go, they will not depart from it. As I grow older, I still follow the same patterns and ways that my dad taught me when I was younger. It made me become a very outspoken and independent individual.

My mom contained high expectations of me seeing as though I was the first born. My parents expected me to be mature, well behaved, and to excel academically. My mom's expectations primarily were realistic and typically attainable. However, when I made a mistake my mom was okay that I learned from my mistakes. After my parents divorce I started to realize my father adopted the authoritarian style to parenting me and my younger siblings. My dad was extremely strict he enforced tough rules and incredibly high expectations. For instance, I received a bad report from school and my dad took away television, video games, and sweets from me for two weeks. In elementary school, I developed new skills like reading, writing, learning to write in cursive, and mathematical skills. I attended a Christian school so I also gained knowledge on the Bible and Christian values. Since I excelled in Erik Erikson's industry vs inferiority stage it helped build my self esteem and confidence. My academic performance pleased my parents and therefore encouraged me to continue to put forth effort in school. According to Erikson I believe that I conquered the industry stage because my productivity throughout the years has led me to…

The moral belief I grew up hearing often was that my dad was God. He does not follow other people’s rules and makes up his own rules. My dad states he is honest and then gives stories about how he cheats people in life. Neither of my parents exhibited a moral belief of forgiveness and honesty. Outsiders and extended family were viewed negatively by my father and mother. We were taught not to trust other people and others were out to get you. We were a closed family, just the four of us.…

Every parent in today’s world is different in his or her own way. Every parents has their own way of parenting and disciplining their child. Their are three basic types of parenting styles that every parenting style can typically fall under. The three different parenting styles include authoritarian, authoritative, and permissive styles. Every parent does not just sit down and pick a style in which they parent but it is based more on how they were brought up and parented them selves. Their lifestyles as a child and even their childhood role models may have had an impact on how and which style they “choose” to parent their own. These three different parenting styles are very different but they are also all very important in a child’s up bringing. I personally think the best parenting style would be a combination of all three; authoritarian, authoritative and permissive.…

If it was not for my father then I would not have known my ability to have grit. I have become more motivated to become a better person. I feel confident in that I can prove my father wrong in that I am a smart individual and will be successful. His words are no longer going to have the power to bring me down. It became a habit to hear my father’s words, so I started to focus more on a positive mindset on how I was going to get through hard situations that were similar to this. I anticipate to go through racial discrimination throughout these four years, and I know that when it does happen my reaction will be calmer and mentally prepared for ignorant people because of what I have gone through with my father. I will overcome this obstacle by ignoring and reminding myself that it is people’s rude comments that are motivating me to attack them with my success. There will be times where in my journey to success I will come across people that will make me work twice as hard to get the education I need because I am from a low income family, first generation, and a…

As parents know all too well, parenting can be complicated and at times there are no easy answers. As a parent, my actions, attitudes and views come together to affect my children’s mental, social and emotional development. The way in which I parent can be categorized and will most likely yield certain results within my children. Researchers have discovered links between parenting styles and effects. In a study of preschoolers, Diana Baumrind and other researchers identified four parenting styles through naturalistic observation, and interviews. They looked at children who had qualities most of us want in our kids: independence, maturity, self-reliance, self control, friendliness and achievement orientation. Using these desirable traits, the four styles of parenting most likely to achieve or discourage those outcomes were identified. The categories of parenting are the Authoritarian, authoritative, permissive, and uninvolved parenting.…

After my parent’s split up I was very disappointed in my mother for a lot of things she did wrong leading up to the divorce, and even after the divorce. This drove me to only stay with my father, which was a luxury that neither of my two siblings had at the time. Being at my dads house left me with a lot of alone time to cope with everything that had gone on, and in turn this made me a lot more independent than I previously had been. I started to spend time alone, which is what gave me the strength that many people don’t have. I can be alone and not feel the need to be around someone. This is one of the adult like traits that I gained while living at my fathers house.…

I believe because of this type of upbringing I have become self-serving biased to a lot of things in my life. I would almost always see others that have grown In their lives, like when my younger sister graduated from college I felt like a failure because I felt I should have graduated before her because I was older than her. Instead of being happy for her and congratulating her on her accomplishments I felt sorry for myself. This I think leads back to my mother telling me I would never make anything of myself and I should just go back to my husband and me a wife and mother and stay home like I should be doing because I could never do anything else with my life. I have since change my ways of thinking with a lot of help from my daughters and current husband. I tell myself often that I am a good person, I cannot control others but I can control myself and not have someone else control me.…
