“Becoming a Fair-minded Thinker”

A fair-minded thinker means to have the ability to think clearly and strongly about a topic. With the right amount of research you are ready and able to recite everything you have obtained from the topic. You also have your own point of view on the subject. More in depth, a fair-minded person is not easily tricked by slick argumentation. They have there own opinion on things but if you have a better argument they are willing to accept that and change there views when faced with better reasoning. They work to appreciate and understand the viewpoints of others. Fair-minded thinkers use thinking in an ethically responsible manner, including being able to accurately reconstruct viewpoints and reasoning of others and to reason from premises, assumptions, and ideas other than your own. This also agrees with the willingness to remember occasions when one was wrong in the past. Another trait of a fair-minded person is Integrity. A person with this trait is when the speaker is always being honest with yourself and your readers. Besides, humility is a trait of a fair-minded person also, you will always be aware that you don’t know everything. You have accepted that you can be wrong sometimes and give credit to the person that has a better answer or have proved you wrong. Surprisingly, a Sense of justice is the third trait. This is when you get the feeling when you know something is fair or is not fair, even if its not against any laws. Continuing on, Perseverance is a trait of a fair-minded person, is when your consciousness of the need to use truths in spite of difficulties, obstacles, ad frustrations. As well a fair-minded thinker is an intellectual courage. When you have this trait you need to face and fairly address ideas, beliefs, and viewpoints toward strong negative emotion.
