The common physical beauty is what Elaine Scarry called “a symmetry of everyone’s relation to one another” in her book called On Beauty and Being Just (1999). This means that beautiful subjects or objects are evenly proportioned and ideal in all their forms. In other words, if symmetry is perfection, then beauty is perfection too. At the same time, as absolute symmetry does not exist- beauty is a divine feature of “chosen”. Meanwhile, I have my own interpretation of physical beauty. This is the idea of beauty that is not just a physical appearance of a person or object. This is the universal “beauty” I was talking about in the introduction of the paper. In my opinion, physical beauty that relates to the beauty of objects or subjects…

How does one measure beauty? Is it measured by the depth of an individual’s personality, or perhaps by the goodness of a person’s heart? Of course that would entail actually having to interact with someone longer than the casual glance and judge routine we have spent generations mastering. No matter how twisted, cracked, and deformed a person’s soul may be doesn’t matter, as long as they have enough cosmetics to cake on and can afford some minor surgery that is. In today’s society we measure beauty through what we see and what we are told is beautiful, because deciding on our own would just be too difficult. Thankfully we have the influence of things like television and celebrities to guide the way into the glamorous world of beautiful people. Because who cares if the majority of your beauty could be removed with a moist tissue and you haven’t seen food in a week as long as you look pretty.…

A very different view of beauty came from Immanuel Kant, an 18th century German philosopher whose work sparked changes in many fields including aesthetics. He holds our mental faculty of reason in high regard and believes that it is our reason that fills the world we experience with structure. He argues that it is our capability of judgment enables us to have experience of beauty and grasp those experiences as part of an ordered, natural world with purpose. (Douglas…

A man may see beauty in a woman, but this idea is relative. Compared to another woman, she may not seem so beautiful. Over time, her beauty will fail with age. Unlike the woman, the form of beauty itself will always remain beautiful. The man's thought of the beautiful woman remains merely opinion, while the form of beauty itself represents true knowledge.…

The term beauty is unique to each and every person. Today, an enormous amount of emphasis is placed on a person’s physical appearance. Physically attractive women and men are known as beautiful , and those individuals who don’t meet society’s standards of “beauty” are teased or ridiculed. Source D (Rosen) states that our societies goal has changed from what used to be encouraged, a lifelong process of moral education, to a rather vain goal of the appearance of success, health and beauty. Beauty doesn’t always have to mean the outward appearance of a person. Beauty can define a person’s heart and personality. It can describe an inspiring view, or it can explain a person’s actions. A person’s appearance can be described as beautiful too, but that is only part of beauty's definition. A person can be beautiful just from the way they act towards others or the way they go about their daily lives.…

It is apparent that the vast majority of people generally want to think well of themselves, even more, to feel beautiful in the eyes of the beholder. In today’s sexual starved society, people are held to such unattainable standard of beauty, ironically leading to low self-esteem, and a void of self-worthiness. These standards have caused women and men to overlook the beauty that God has created in them and find their solace in the ultimate illusion of beauty; cosmetic surgery. Although, the vanity of beauty can never fill the lustful heart of man, once the person becomes aware and accepts their inner self-image, only then, will they be able to see beauty in their reflection, which is true everlasting beauty.…

What is beauty? Well, beauty is defined as a combination of qualities, such as shape, colour or form that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially sight. Beauty affects everyone, because everyone has qualities of attractiveness globally. However, I have always wondered if models were truly beautiful. They might be on the outside but their personalities might ruin their outward beauty. Who knows? They might be even insecure. Hence, the world does not realize that outward beauty is impermanent and inner beauty is permanent. Maybe that is why there are so many relationship breakups and divorces. Society needs to know that outward beauty fades away and inner beauty is everlasting.…
