The Bassmaster Classic is the biggest bass fishing tournament of the year and is usually held in the month of February. Each year, it is hosted somewhere in the United States, bringing in anglers and fans from all over the world. The first Bassmaster Classic ever held was in 1971 on Lake Mead, Nevada. Since then, the field has ranged from 24-61 anglers, and the prize money has grown from $10,000 to $500,000. The 2009 competition included women for the first time. The Bassmaster Classic is growing in popularity each year, and so is its economic impact. If you're a hotel owner, restaurateur or merchant, the benefits are huge. Along with 50 or so of the world's greatest anglers, the Bassmaster Classic brings tens of thousands of visitors and, with them, millions of dollars in spending. In 2009...
