Obstacles
Everyone’s ultimate goal in life is to be successful. No matter what occupation or talent, obstacles will always interfere. Without obstacles, no challenge would exist. Obstacles are absolutely essential for achieving success because they push people to become better and stronger, learn from their mistakes, and persevere through difficult times.

If nothing hinders success, then what will determine one to get better? Many people fail before achieving victory. For instance, Michael Jordan did not have an entirely successful path through his whole career. When he was a sophomore in high school, he was cut from the school’s basketball team. Disappointed yet determined, Michael worked on becoming better everyday. He overcame this obstacle, and made the school team his junior year. Michael Jordan, possibly the greatest basketball player who ever lived, did not let failure bring him down. Instead, he was more resolute to improve his strength and skills. He states why he was successful by saying, “I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed” (Jordan).

Also, obstacles are vital for success because they cause people to learn from their mistakes. When someone fails, they look back on what they did wrong and fix the problem. One man who did this was Walt Disney. Walt Disney’s first animation company, Laugh-O-Grams, went bankrupt. Looking back on what he did incorrect, Walt Disney deciphered the problems. After this, he traveled to Hollywood and started a new animation business called Walt Disney Animation Studios. Today, this business is the most profitable animation company in the world.
