what is baroque art and its features
Baroque is an artistic style prevalent from the late 16th century to the early 18th century in Europe.It is most often defined as "the dominant style of art in Europe between the Mannerist and Rococo eras, a style characterized by dynamic movement, overt emotion and self-confident rhetoric".The popularity and success of the Baroque style was encouraged by the Roman Catholic Church, which had decided at the time of the Council of Trent, in response to the Protestant Reformation, that the arts should communicate religious themes in direct and emotional involvement.The aristocracy also saw the dramatic style of Baroque architecture and art as a means of impressing visitors and expressing triumphant power and control. Baroque palaces are built around an entrance of courts, grand staircases and reception rooms of sequentially increasing opulence.Baroque (Baroque) term originated in 17th century Portuguese (Barroco), means of irregular shape Oriental pearl. In Italian Barocc0 means unusual strange.As a kind of art form of appellation,the earliest name should appeared in the 18th century. It is the 18th century classical activists derogatory look to the art form appeared in 16th century which deviated from the Renaissance artistic spirit.At that time, these artistic form is mainly mannerism, then gradually evolved into baroque art.not until the 18th century, before it being defined as grotesque, affectation, even disrupted the spirit of Renaissance, the backward "baluoke" there for it can be said that baroque art was evolved from the 16th century mannerism and Moves towards magnificently in 17th century and eventually spread from Italy throughout Europe.In a sense, 17th-century European art scene can also be referred to as "the Baroque era". Although this formulation is not very precise, but as advocates of that era baroque art is indeed all the rage at the time. Although in classical activists opinion, baroque seems to be a setback of humanism, A rebellious spirit of the Renaissance, however from the macro perspective of art, the formation and development of baroque art is a progress of the era. Because the development of human society is constantly changing, and for every era there are always its advocated connotations and forms. There for in the second half of 16th century when the great Renaissance aura has gradually dispersed its light, the other arts and culture for the times inevitable appeared. Any kind of new start-up culture and the arts in its time, will always bring some kind of strangeness,there for get rejected from the classic art defenders . not to mention Baroque art in its initial times could not really get rid of mannerism. It also is used by the church at that time, and became a tool of religion. However, with the continuous development of Baroque art, particularly in the 17th century, it gradually getting mature ,and its tendency began to appear diverse and formed an independent character features. And after this kind of diversified forms of art had dominant the European art scene for nearly a century later, in the half of the 18th century it had gradually drop out of the mainstream of the 17th century because of the expansion of European power,plundering overseas colonies to accumulate great wealth,luxury living advocates ,therefor architecture, music, art also called for luxury vivid and full of passion. Different from other artistic style it has its unique features.first of all it has a luxurious feature,contains both religion and hedonism color .
