Last October 15, 2012, the Bangsamoro Peace Agreement has been signed by our current President Benigno Aquino III. I, honestly, have never heard about this agreement until recently. After doing some research on the internet, I have come to know that this agreement has been through 32 peace talks between the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Philippines for nine years. Basically, the Bangsamoro is the new Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and these people have their own political unit.
One advantage of the Bangsamoro Peace Agreement is that the Philippines will be more peaceful now because of the agreement of both the MILF and the National Government. This agreement was signed and agreed upon because of the benefits that both parties will have. The National Government and the New Political Entity have decided on points wherein that can benefit each other so as not to feel left out or inferior to the other; signing the agreement only shows that the points that they have presented to each other are good for both parties.
During an interview of PNoy on the Philippine Daily Inquirer, he said that the Framework Agreement can benefit the business in Bangsamoro. (Burgonio, 2012) Because of the agreement, it looks like people can now step foot in Mindanao without the fear of being trapped or violated. It is probably the same with businesses trying to open in Mindanao and to explore its lands for development. Because of the businesses that will be willing to open in Mindanao, specifically in Bangsamoro, will open job opportunities and help the residents.
I may have little information about the Peace Agreement compared to the others who have studied it and know every little detail about it but the way I see it, the agreement will benefit the whole country and its people since this agreement promotes peace which every country needs.
