Child abuse is a criminal offense committed under any law of a state that involves the physical, emotional, or sexual mistreatment or injury of a child by a parent or another part responsible for the child’s welfare, either purposely or due to neglect. There are many side effect of child abuse which mainly divided into three categories which the effect of child abuse against children, child abuser and society.
The most obviously and clearly the effect of child abuse can be seen on children. The child abuse can affect children through two ways, mainly through the physical and emotional of the children. Physically, we can say that the children who have been abused will have an effect that can be obviously seen in the children who have been abused will go through an unexplained injury on face and body like cuts, bruises and sores which cannot be properly explained. Besides, their injuries are repeatedly occurring which can kill the children if it is continuously happen and untreated. The child who have been abused will suffering from speech disorder such as stammering or stuttering. They have a delayed physical development such as their level of thinking is not as normal as the other even they are actually like a normal children.
The second effect of child abuse can be seen on child abuser. As to child abuser, the fines and punishment will be imposed to them. Under the Children’s Protection Act, the offenders will be sentenced to a maximum of two years jail or fined RM 5000 or both based on the seriousness of the crime.
