* Have you ever felt the dust around your face seeing a racing car going on? Baja California has one of the most famous races in the world. Which is Baja 1000, this race is among the top 5 in the world. This adventure is for those who like cars, and they should be able to endure dust because at the end the spectator looks like breaded fish. The event is toll free, for all ages and genders and is a perfect situation to share time with friends and family and why not, to cool down with a beer. So, would you like to go and watch a race, or better yet, to participate in one? In Baja California we have 3 different races, Baja 250, Baja 500 and Baja 1000. The numbers stand for the distance in miles of each race. Baja 250 takes place in San Felipe, with an average 5 hours time. Baja 500 is a circuit, which begins and finishes at Ensenada, with an average time of 9 hours. On the other hand, Baja 1000 is the most exciting of them all; therefore I am going to focus on this one. Baja 1000 is a really demanded race, as many people wait restless for it. The course has remained similar over the years with the majority of events being a point-to-point race from Ensenada to La Paz, or a loop race starting and finishing in Ensenada similar to Baja 500, but longer. The first Baja 1000 was raced in 1967. As you may know, in those times cars didn’t count with the technology they do now. This race has a deadline time of 32 hours. The winner of the first race ever completed the track in 27 hours with 38 minutes. And the 2011 Baja 1000 was finished in 18 hours. So, which technology allowed them to finish faster? Just to mention some, GPS, lights, suspension, engine, and safety materials which can withstand a rollover. As a spectator we watch over 250 participants racing. This race is a worldwide event; pilots come from U.S, Italy, Germany, Japan, Canada, and of course from Mexico. 1000 miles is a long journey, people usually stay where they can see cars jumping, driving at high...
