A Study of Knowledge and Attitude towards Instructional Development and Innovations of ODL. Love for the spread of knowledge is the most satisfying human emotions. Distance education is at a critical point in its history. The field has experienced an unprecedented growth in the past decade. However, an analysis of its current status in this paper will raise some critical questions about the field, and if it can sustain its growth in the foreseeable future. In the last ten years, distance education has the support of state government and information industry leaders. Almost all institutions of higher education have created high profile programs for distant learners. A new e-learning industry has emerged. And the central government is in the process of making dramatic changes in the laws that affect the practices of education. Further, new revolutionary technologies are introduced on a regular basis that will make distance education even more appealing enticing. The status of the teacher reflects the socio –cultural ethos of a society .The government and the community should create conditions that will help teachers to have motivation and inspiration in a constructive and creative manner. Teachers should have freedom to innovate, to devise appropriate methods of communication and activities relevant to the needs and capabilities of and the concerns of the community. If quality education and training is to be provided, teachers should be involved in effective teaching learning process and at the same time they should be make students involved in individualized learning and facilitate creative thinking. Teacher’s involvement in online programs and innovation in ODL programs is quite different from other learning process. Their roles are supervision and guidance. Their role is to provide a chance for learners to have independent learning experiences. These experiences can be given to the student in various on line programs and activities .these programs and innovations are essential for providing effective inputs by the teachers to the students. Need of the Study:

The present paper deals with the awareness / knowledge and attitude towards instructional development and innovations of ODL.As such study bring change in any field or branch ,because the awareness and attitude play a significant role in acceptance of any concept and its dissemination in the society. Since distance education is considered as the latest and most effective innovation in the field of education particularly programs for teaching learning process, the study is needed to study the awareness level of teacher educators in the present context.As well as their attitude regarding the innovation in ODL. As such to bring revolution in any field or branch the awareness regarding particular concept plays a significant role. •Since distance education is considered as the latest and most effective innovation in the field of education particularly programs for teaching learning process, the study is need to study the awareness level of teacher educators in the present context. As well as their attitude regarding the innovation in ODL. •Those who have been involved in the field of distance education for more than two or three decades these are interesting and exciting times. Our field, since 1990, has moved from periphery of practice to the mainstream in higher education, and at K-12 Schools, as well as in business and government. Even though, dist. or as it is called “distributed learning” has touched the lives of only 8% of undergraduate, and 10% of graduate students in the USA. So we can imagine the Status of India. Hence more penetration and dissemination of distance education are the thrust area. •Online Programs made “learning autonomy” to the learner.
