It employs million of people and generates revenue in billions of dollars world wild . * A number of international brands have developed robust clientele in India such as, Honda India, general motors, fords motors, Toyota India, and Hyundai motors . * Domestic manufactures such as Maruti Udyog ltd, Tata motors, and Mahindra & have there loyal customer as ever. * The Indian automobile industry is the tenth largest in the world with an annual production of approximately 2 million units. * Indian auto industry, promises to become the major automotive industry in the upcoming years and the industry experts are hopeful that it will touch 10 million units mark.

TWO WHEELER AUTOMOBILE: INDIA

* The Indian two wheeler market has a size of over Rs. 100,000 million. * The Indian two wheeler segment contributes the largest volumes amongst all the segments in automobile industry. * The segment of two wheeler industry can be broadly categorized into 3 sub-segments viz; scooters, motorcycles and mopeds; some categories introduced in the market are a combination of two or more segments e.g. scooterettes and step thru’s. * The market primarily comprises five players in the two wheeler segment with most of the companies having foreign collaborations with well-known Japanese firms earlier.
