Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention Deficit /Hyperactivity disorder main symptoms are difficulty with concentration, poor ability for organizing and completing tasks, inattention, restlessness, and increased movement activity. The disorder comes with a lot of emotional stress and psychological impairment. People diagnosed with this disorder are at risk in developing other psychological conditions. Attention Deficit/hyperactivity disorder is classified as a neurodevelopment disorder. This basically means a small dysfunction in the nervous system. The disorder is usually noticeable during childhood. There are three types of the disorder. One type is when the inattention is dominant. A second type is when impulsive behavior and hyperactivity is revealed. The third type is when all three symptoms are relevant. There is a relationship with the neurobiology of Attention Deficit disorder. The locus coeruleus and the reticular activating system represents neutral circuitry that are critical in ADHD’s core symptoms of difficulty with keeping attention on one task, cognitive and behavioral dysfunction , and motor disorganization. These primary deficits can produce dysfunction in memory and internalization of speech.
There have been many different types of medications used to treat Attention-deficit disorder. The most common medication and used for the longest time are psycho stimulants. Stimulants have been studied in controlled trials of all age groups and have proved to be safe. Physicians used to think that stimulants are effective in the treatment of ADD. But recently research proves that stimulants have harmful risks, which includes cardio toxicity and heart defects. In a journal article titled, “Atomoxetine: A selective Norepinephrine Reuptaker Inhibitor for the treatment of Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder,” a physician states that… “Ten to forty percent of patients with ADHD report either...
