1: Describe how you might contribute to a lesson given by a group of seven year old children learning to play percussion instruments?

As a Teaching Assistant I must contribute in many ways by making a safe environment for the pupils and promote a positive happy attitude by helping them to learn while trying to help behavioural issues also.I must check the area in which they are working in and around and all equipment is safe clean and useable and set up correctly. I also would need to check if I myself knew all of the instruments so I could help the pupils if they were unsure of how to use any or if they were struggling. I would keep an eye on all the pupils observing and checking their behaviour keeping them interested in the lesson stopping them from becoming restless or looseing concentration. I would need to be a good effective person with whom the pupils could look upon for help. I would also need to be prepared for the teacher or the pupils if they asked me about anything after the lesson is finished.

2: What might your role be in organising ,using and maintaining the learning resourses,materials and equipment for this percussion lesson?

My role would be to make sure I am prepared for the lesson before it begins by checking and preparing the classroom with all the necessary equipment or instruments. Everything would need to be in a clean safe stable manner and all working correctly. If they were not working I would need to report to the teacher who could arrange for repairs or new items but I would still need to make sure we had enough equipment for that lesson whether the pupils shared or not. I would ask the pupils to help tidy away after the lesson and making it fun to do together teaching the safely and correctly. I would also make sure all work surfaces were clean tidy safe and ready for the following lesson to begin.
