In regard to the water resource plan, I have chosen to look futher into water pollution, I believe that is an extremely large issue and can be cause by natural things but is mainly caused by the human population. Krantz and Kifferstein (n.d) stated, “Comprising over 70% of the Earth’s surface, water is undoubtedly the most precious natural resource that exists on our planet. Without the seemingly invaluable compound comprised of hydrogen and oxygen, life on Earth would be non-existent: it is essential for everything on our planet to grow and prosper” (¶ 1). As seen in the prior statement, water is something that we, as humans as well as animals, need to survive. Water pollution can be caused by both Point Source Pollution as well as Nonpoint Source Pollution. Point source pollution is where one can point out the source of the problem or the issue can also be intentional, such as cruise ships dumping their waste into the ocean as well as other companies dumping their waste or radio active materials into the water. As far as nonpoint source pollution goes this is where there is run off of chemicals or materials into the water, such as fertilizers and pesticides, caused my natural events. Water pollution FAQ (n.d), stated Water pollution can be detected in two major ways, one from laboratories testing the water and the other from marine life. The different behaviors and growth patterns of marine life can show scientist that their environment could be polluted. Guide network (2007) introduced many types of water pollution as well, the first being surface water pollution which involves oceans, rivers, and lakes. The second form being groundwater pollution where the underground water most people use as drinking water becomes contaminated. And third form of water pollution is microbiological, which is where our water becomes contaminated by microorganisms such as viruses and bacteria. The forth form of water pollution is known as chemical water pollution, where the...
