A Quiet Hero Executive summary
This paper examines the importance of effective leadership in organizational management and analyzes leadership style and behavior based on many theoretical perspectives. This is a profound analysis illustrated by a real person who performs various leadership characteristics very successfully. The paper first discusses about the person’s background and where the leadership takes place. Then it evaluates the person’s leadership style as a transformational leader in her career, providing both inherent and contingent traits that make her become a successful leader. The paper also analyzes how an effective leader should make use of different sources of power in an appropriate and wise way. The conclusion at the end is to reinstate main points of the whole paper.

Introduction
The world is changing progressively and the question is “How are people going to adapt changes and drive the society in new ways?” Leadership is an important predictor and plays a fundamental role in management function, which is involved in people and social interaction and also the process of influencing and inspiring people to come to success. (Pinto & Prescott, 1988) The purpose of this report is to clarify the importance of leadership, which is not only a process but also a relationship among people, about how to change and motivate people to build new cultures. (Tozer, 1997) This is to help one to become an active, considerate, and successful participant in organizational and social life. This report in particular will discuss and provide a profound analysis about a female chief nurse executive (CNE), who is in charge of supervising both administrative and clinical aspects regarding to nursing care at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, California, USA (CHOC Children’s). This person has such a powerful leader deep in her soul through the simplest things she does in her daily work which all come from her great spiritual values (Tozer, 1997), enthusiasm and sympathy to patients. She is now in her mid forty; it has been over twenty years and her love for this job still remains the same as the first day she started it!

Leadership style and behavior in nursing studies
According to House’s path-goal theory (1974), the four major leadership styles are directive, supportive, participative, and achievement-oriented style. House claimed that participative leadership is the most effective style, measured by high productivity of teamwork, low cost containment (Lobo, 2010), positive employee attitudes and good labor relationship. As a well-experienced CNE, she has been practicing participate leadership style that makes her become a very successful leader at work and also in her own life.
