Business Traveller Hotel is a luxury hotel whose guests are mostly international business travellers. Surveying the guests the owners discovered that the need for better data communications was the major requirement of the guests. Main communications provided by the hotel at the present are telephone for dial up connections and a 10 megabit shared Ethernet in the conference rooms.
To improve its quality of service, it was decided to install network connections in each of its 1200 guest rooms and 12 conference meeting rooms. Each of the rooms needs a connection to access the internet as well as connections to other guests’ rooms. The conference rooms should have connections to the guest rooms as well as external connections to facilitate high quality video conferencing. For those customers not wishing to pay for the high quality connections the Hotel management is also considering providing wireless connections to the guests at no cost.
Present a network design that would meet the needs of Business Traveller Hotel. The design should support guests’ computers with minimum interaction with hotel IT staff. In your proposal justify the choices for your design and any assumptions regarding the organisation or the technology in use now or in the future.
