1. Report the demographic and independent variables that are relevant to complete a demand analysis providing a rationale for the selection of the variables. (Independent variables are the variables that have effect on the demand of Pizza). List 5 and explain the effect of each of them on the demand of Domino’s Pizza.
I currently reside in Allentown, Pennsylvania, which has a current population, based off of the 2010 Census data, of 118,032 people. The large amount of people that reside in the 18 square mile city, which is the third largest in the state, allows for huge competition amongst the local chain and privately owned pizza restaurants. Within the city limits of Allentown, Pennsylvania, there are 3 Domino’s pizza restaurants within 13.2 miles of each other. The average median income per household is $49,025 and $37,356 per family. This can affect the demand of pizza based on the price of the pizzas being sold. The lower the income of a family is, the lesser the chances they will purchase take-out or fast food. Typically, families that are on a fixed or smaller income will live on a budget and normally that does not include the luxury of eating out. Looking at the price of various Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut and various local pizza restaurants, the average cost of a large, plain cheese pizza pie is $10.42. While this may be a good price to some, families with a higher number of members may not be willing to pay $10+ per pizza due to the fact that they most likely have to purchase in multiple quantities. 15 percent of the Allentown, Pennsylvania population get around by means of transportation other than a car, therefore a pizza restaurant offering delivery services will be a benefit to those not able to pick their pizza up. The local average fee for pizza delivery is $2.00, based off of two of the large chain pizza restaurants delivery fees. The local privately owned pizza restaurants

In this assignment I will be discussing the consideration of Domino’s Pizza entering the market place in the Washington DC’s Georgetown community. I selected this area because it is highly populated with tourists that may want to grab a quick bite to eat while shopping and touring the area and the local upper class working singles that often don’t have time to cook after a long day at work. I have conducted research and gathered information forecasting the demand for this business based on population, household income and other pizza establishments in this area along with the average cost for pizza. Based on the research and demand analysis we should be able to determine if it would be in the best interest of the Domino’s Pizza Company to establish an operation in this community.…

The independent variables for this report will be population, average income per household, age of population, and the price of pizza. A key determinant of demand is the population of the area in question and as we will see in this report, growth will play a positive factor. The ultimate concern is can the city sustain another pizza delivery entity at its current population to restaurant ratio? Level of income is relative to demand and typically the higher the household income the higher the demand for a product. Income levels also can influence the marginal profit for the company. Areas with higher income are willing to pay extra for a convenience of pizza delivery and typically hold more parties where pizza delivery is used as opposed to friends bringing food. Finally yet importantly is price. Given the city’s below average median house income compare to the nation, price was selected as a variable. The dependent variable is the number of pizzas sold in the area. Using a regression model we will input the dependent variable; value of pizzas sold, along with the independent variables; population, median household income and price. We then will look then look at the summary output from the regression to make some decision about bringing a pizza store to our city.…

The fast food culture in the United States has grown from a $6 billion-a-year industry in 1970 to a massive corporate franchising empire earning more than $170 billion in annual revenue (Food Empowerment Project, 2010). Leading the way in the fast food culture is the pizzeria industry. The pizza industry is a highly competitive market. Farmington is a fairly small town located in Davis County, UT. The current population for this town is about 18,275 (City Data, 2012). The median income per household in my city from 2000 to 2009 has ranged from an estimate of about $74,250 to about $79,044 for the current day. The average cost of pizza from other pizza places over the years (2000-2013) ranged anywhere from $5.00 to about $18.00 depending on what you want and how you want it prepared. The average household size was 3.40 in Farmington. Hypothetically the amount of pizzas that were ordered would be based on the number of people per household and the income for the household.…
