Neural Matters Limited (NML) was founded in 2001. The company performs in the field of Knowledge Mapping and Knowledge Management. NML claims gathering the best aspects of experienced Knowledge Management and analytical skills with state-of-the-art technology and enterprise application development experience. It released BrainMine; a Knowledge Mapping application for Microsoft Windows™ targeted different market sectors.
BrainMine claims to promote "Right Brain" visual thinking and had supports from Tony Buzan. The technique based on a whole brain approach unlike a standard left brain linear approach and aims to mimick the way our brains naturally function. Lists, sequence, words, sentences and paragraphs are basically left brain skills. Right brain skills include the use of colour, gestalt, rhythm, imagination and day dreaming.
The program provides an adequate amount of editing tools, producing good-looking diagrams and instantly redrawing while making changes. Allows insertion of clip art from the Media Window. The program does not allow cutting and pasting branches. Nor does it let annotate idea chains with text or links. There is no direct export function to use a BrainMine file in Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel or Microsoft PowerPoint.
