On today’s lesson we have watch a video regarding the effects that BAT has in other parts of the world. Am about to go into detail on what really happens behind BAT and the risk’s that they are willing to take, as long as their product sells and their members of BAT get their profit.
To find out more about this issue DUNCAN, is very successful business man that has decided to take up the challenge, to try to find out why so many people smoke as he was one of the millions of people that smoke around the world. Therefore the government has decided in recent months to deal with the situation by forbidden smokes to smoke in any public places around the UK.
The BBC has send Duncan to three destinations
• Mauritius
• Nigeria
• Malawi
Before he left for any of the destinations he decided to do some research about the situation and find out that more than one million people per year die each year of smoking, and is expected to double within the next 20 years.
BAT is encouraging them (customers) by advertising cheap cigarettes’ and rewarding their customers with gifts amount other things, in other words playing with their minds.
His first stop was Mauritius in which he came to realised very soon that children under the age of 11 – 14 were already smokers at that particular age, he was shock and astonish to known that children at that age could get hold of cigarettes and most importantly that half of them were unaware of the risks they were taking, as some of the kids that he come across with said that they only reason for smoking was because it look cool or just for the simple fact that the rest of their friends were doing it, out off a class with 39 pupils 21 smoke at that particular school in Mauritius and as he come face to face with some of the students he didn’t understand how they manage to get hold of them or even why they were allowed to smoke in school premises,...
