1. The roles of the teacher and the learning support practitioner are different in that the teacher is responsible for monitoring and assessing the pupils achievement and need to know how much the children have progressed and report back to the parents/carers and other teachers i.e.: the head and heads of year/subject leaders. Teachers will plan lessons with clear outcomes that the learner’s progress can be measured against. The role of the learning practitioner is to support the teacher/ children in achieving this. We can do this by reporting whether or not children we are working with have achieved the outcomes of the lesson and what they found easy or difficult and where they may be having difficulties. Whether they are using and understanding methods that have been taught or different problem solving skills. Everyone should be clear and understand what the learning outcome is and the outcome should be displayed at the beginning of the lesson
2. With formative assessment you would use a range of strategies to monitor a pupil’s progress such as:
• Open ended questions
• By questioning the children on their understanding of what they have learnt. What do they know?
