We live in a world where crimes of varying severity people take for granted. Reportedly, larceny-theft, property crime, burglary, aggravated assault, robbery, forcible rape, murder and manslaughter are considered as the most widespread ones. As for me, the most cruel and reckless is kidnapping. Kidnapping is a very real threat, wherever you may be in the world or whatever city you may live in. Each year a lot of children go missing due to this crime and in some cases it is impossible to control abductions, so the rate is increasing daily. This essay will address some of the solutions to prevent kidnapping. According to statistics, many cases of kidnapping existence are due to carefree attitude towards children’s security. As we know, children of age from five to 12 are trustful, open and friendly, so this endearing characteristic can become an essential reason of getting in trouble. Consequently, you have to teach your child never to speak to strangers and explain to them in case they are approached by a stranger to run away immediately. It is also important to explain to child about "safe strangers" such as policemen, firemen and store clerks so they know whom to trust should they become lost or need help. Secondly, the most important rule when your child goes for a walk in the street, to set boundaries of where your child is permitted to be. When choosing them, follow the rule of being “in the sight”; that helps to minimise the risk of being abducted. Moreover, you have to keep on mind that it is also necessary to make sure that your child understands the seriousness of situation and follows your instructions. The last but not least thing you can do in such a difficult position is self-defence. It is not obligatory to take martial arts’ classes for skilful defence of oneself.
