The wait for this great occasion had been enormous, when justice finally caught up with the most wanted terrorist in the world. That Osama Bin Laden was finally found, and then killed in Pakistan itself, raised many eyebrows. While most nations received this news with huge relief, a few condemned his death. But all in all, the 2nd of May, 2011 is going to be a date engraved in many people's minds for a long, long time to come.
The immediate impact as the news broke out was pretty obvious: joyous celebrations in and around the US- celebrating outside the White House, the gleam of the red ticker that read: Osama is Dead! at the Times Square in New York, twitter updates that knew no bound, random jokes smses on Osama himself (the knock-knock ones were quite a favourite!!). Americans rose toasts to their brave soldiers, to the United States Navy Seals Team, and to President Obama himself!
The death of the world's most wanted man may be a momentary celebration for the Americans, but in the long run, is just going to add fuel to the fire for those terrorists against America. Of course there are questions that demand answers: How had Osama survived for 10 years without being killed? Is the Al-Qaeda going to fall apart? Will the economy become better because of less expenditures in the middle east? The Obama Administration cannot be grilled to provide answers; however, they do have a responsibilty to look into their relations with the nation that proved to be a safe haven for Bin Laden: Pakistan.
