It's the world's greatest crevace. To enter the Grand Canyon you must first moisten it and provide proper lubrication. The sturdy rocky peaks of this crevace are nothing compared to the treasure experienced within. The inside of the canyon is a light pink coloration, and at times it smells oddly like fish. However, when you are able to look past the smell, the truly magical experiences begin. The canyon is a difficult area to learn all about, but you MUST learn to please it. It is a series of intersecting canals that all lead to the central G-spot (the "G" is for grand). However, finding the G-Spot is one of the most difficult things to do, but if you can find it, your experience at the Grand Canyon will be far more than grand. It's the world's greatest crevace. Assignment 5 (30 points) 1. (5 points) Compute the longitudinal and transverse stiffness E1, E2 of an S-glass epoxylamina for a fiber volume fraction Vf = 0.7, using the properties from attached Tables. 2. (5 points) Plot the longitudinal stiffness E1 of an E-glass/nylon unidirectionally reinforced composite, as a function of the volume fraction Vf of fiber. Use the properties from attached Tables. 3. (5 points) Plot the longitudinal tensile strength of an E-glass/epoxy unidirectionallyreinforced composite, as a function of the volume fraction of fiber, assuming tensile strength follows a volume rule of additivity. Use the properties from attached Tables. 4. (5 points) What is the maximum volume fraction of spherical fillers that could be obtained in the particle-reinforced composite assuming cubic packing? Please show the step. 5. (4 points) Using the Takayanagi model and assuming uniform strain in the matrix, derive a relationship for the transverse, tensile compliance of a unidirectionally-reinforced composite. 6. (6 points) Two test specimens have the same Young’s modulus in tension. However, one of the specimens is homogeneous while the other one has two layers with one layer stiffer than other layer. How will the flexural modulus of the two specimens differ? Explain. (Hint, use Parallel and Series model to calculate the modulus to compare them. Assume the modulus of stiff material is 1X109MPa as and the modulus of soft material is 1X108 , and the volume fraction of each one is 0.5) Properties will be used for solving above problems: The modulus of S-glass is 85.5 GPa, the modulus of E-glass is 72.4 GPa, the modulus of Epoxy is 3.5 GPa and the modulus of polyamide (nylon) is 3.0 GPa. The tensile break strength of E-glass is 2.4 GPa and that of epoxy is 45 MPa. The break strain for E-glass and epoxy is 2.6% and 1.28%, respectively.…

“How are you feeling right now?” My father asked, I replied, “Excited.” This was in fact, an understatement. I had never seen or been to a natural reservation so highly known as the Grand Canyon. I have always been the type of person who enjoyed going camping or staying outside, appreciating the presence of nature. It was great news to hear. After weeks of planning, our family was on the road heading out to the Grand Canyon. After each hour, the lands we were crossing seemed to become more absent from human civilization. The expanding rocky prairie whizzed pass the car windows and reminded us of the purity of the land. Soon enough, we made it into Arizona, and then, finally, our destination.…

Lauded by literary critics, writers and the general reading public, Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn commands one of the highest positions in the canon of American literature. On an international level, it is “a fixture among the classics of world literature” (Kaplan 352). It “is a staple from junior high . . . to graduate school” and “is second only to Shakespeare in the frequency with which it appears in the classroom . . . ” (Carey-Webb 22). During the push for school desegregation in the 1950s, however, many parents raised serious objections to the teaching of this text. These objections centered around Twain's negative characterization of Jim and his extensive use of the term “nigger” throughout the text. Many people felt this characterization, along with the most powerful racial epithet in the English language, were insensitive to African Americn heritage and personally offensive in racially mixed classrooms.…

In democratic nations today, the ability to vote is presumed. Many consider this right a “natural right,” while others consider it a privilege or even a civic duty. Back in the 19th century, women wanted changes in the roles. Susan B. Anthony, who was arrested in 1872 for voting illegally, had changed women to have great roles. She has sacrificed herself to gain liberty and equality. This made the women to rise up and revolt against US government.…
