Positive and negative sides come out when men temper with nature. Just like in “ Dr. Heidegger's Experiment” and Rappaccini's Daughter,” when men have too much power they tend to over use it, although in some cases they use it for good. One of those cases is Artificial snow making. I think it will help save the mountains that are hit by global warming and more and more every year.
When given power such as to create artificial snow, men have done some good with that. For example, “the artificial snow keeps the mountains open for a longer season in the Alps” said Fake Flakes. Which in return brings in more tourists and locals back. Also when there is no natural snow, artificial snow can take its place on those dry months. Even if there is natural snow on the ground, adding more artificial snow can thicken the base coat, which makes the skiing much more fun and enjoyable. “Since artificial snow is usually made with recycled water,” according to Fake Flakes, “more water Treatment plants are being built close to mountains.” It is positive because more water can be cleaned and reused rather then being dumped dirty into rivers. “The artificial snow is now even used by science labs to learn how to forecast avalanches”, says Steve Ritter
The negative side to men tempering with nature is that at the end of the season when all the snow melts off the mountain, there is a lot of run off. Carol Matlack said, “Some researchers believe that the run off from the mountains are killing the plants around the area with the chemicals that are in the artificial snow.” Some resorts in the lower tourist areas do not have enough snow machines which causes them to go out of business(Matlack). It is also said that in some places the water is not treated correctly at the water treatment plants(Fake Flakes). In result makes dirty snow and it all can relate to the dying of the
I believe that the power to create artificial snow is okay for men to use as long as they do... [continues]
