Background of the study.
Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc, owned by a Greek business mogul, George Stanley Coumantaros, was incorporated on September 29, 1960 but started full operations in 1962. It is the biggest flour milling company in West African with current staff strength of over 5000 and another 3000 as third party and fixed term employees. Flour Mills Plc is the largest single mill in the world located on a single site with milling capacity over 10,000 metric tons per day. It has the following subsidiaries Nigerian Bags Manufacturing Company (BAGCO), BAGCO Morpack Ltd, Golden Transport Ltd (Fleet Operations Ltd), Golden Penny Noodles Company Ltd, Golden Pasta Company, Apapa Bulk Terminal Ltd, Northern Nigeria Flour Mills Kano, Maiduguri Flour Mills, Eagle Flour Mills, Niger Mills Calabar, Kaboji Farms Kwara State and Sunti Farms in Niger State. Flour Mills’ array of products include bread flour, biscuit flour, semovita, pasta products, noodles, wheat offals, polypropylene sacks, transwraps, burham cement, rice and fertilizer etc.
The statement of problem.
The statement of problem is a matter of fact that clearly indicates the remote
and immediate effect of Geographical information system on physical distrib-
ution network of a business organization and how it affect its overall profitab-
ility. It involves the effect of Geographical information system and the signif-
icant of the problems as it relates to supply chain in an industry.
