Who is involved in the film production? There are multiple artists that are involved in the development of the mise-en-scene; the director, the production designer, and the art director. In order for the mise-en-scene to be successful at portraying the correct idea to the audience the artists must work in conjunction with each other. In this assignment I will first identify the artists of “Kicking and Screaming (2005)” and explain each of their roles in overall design process. Secondly I will analyze the mise-en-scene of the chosen clip. I will then proceed to express my opinion of the mise-en-scene. The artist that was responsible for directing the production of “kicking and Screaming (2005)” is 46 year old Jesse Dylan of Los Angeles California. While directing the film, Jesse Dylan was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the films production. His duties included; managing the hiring of the film’s cast and crew, coordinating with the actors, deciding the types of lenses, lighting and camera angles that would be used during production with the assistance of the cinematographer, making the tone of the film, overseeing the sequences of shots that were completed, and working alongside the producer and film editor to finalize the sequences and storyline of the movie. The production designer of “Kicking and Screaming (2005)” is 52 year old Clayton R. Hartley of Toluca Lake, California. In the course of his time as production designer for the film he had the responsibilities of crafting the overall visual feel of the scenes. He did this through assisting the director in choosing the setting.
