Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
Janie had different marriages, in each of them she discovers pieces about herself. What does she learn through out her experiences in the three marriages? Compare and contrast Jody and Tea Cake how were they different or similar from each other? How does she meet Jody, Tea Cake and Logan?
When you first meet someone, you don't know how important that person may turn out to be to you. Meeting a significant other can be a life changing journey full of ups and downs and on the way down the road you discover certain things about yourself you never thought possible. In the novel Their eyes were watching god by Zora Neale Hurston Janie is a beautiful woman trying to find herself and go on a journey to the horizon. On her journey to the horizon she discovers love, courage and her spiritual needs. Through out her journey she experiences three different marriages and learns from each one.
When married you learn about your partner and their “true colors” and when marriage doesn't work out you start to know what you want in a person. Janie has three different marriages through out the novel she marries Logan Killicks, Jody Starks and Tea Cake. Her first marriage wasn't because of love, it was because of her grandmother. Janie's grandmother had an arrange marriage for her. Janie's grandmother always wanted what was best for her granddaughter so she married her off with a wealthy middle aged farmer. In her first marriage with Logan she hopes to fall in love with Logan but he makes it impossible for her because he doesn't look at her or show any affections towards her. As time goes by he stops pampering her and tries to get her working in manual labor, in chapter 4 we start to see their relationship go wrong. Logan calls Janie a spoiled brat and Janie doesn't let herself, so she talks back. Logan starts treating her as a worker instead of a wife, he...
