The novel Anthills of the Savannah is written by Chinua Achebe that takes place in the West-African state called Kangan. Kangan is an independent state that is ruled by a dictatorial president. Chris Oriko who is one of the two main characters is the Commissioner of Information in Sam’s Cabinet. Chris and Sam went to school and grew up together and became very close up until Sam gained power in Kangan. The other main character is Ikem Osodi who is close friends with Chris and studied together with Chris and Sam. Ikem writes editorials that are critical of the Kangan government and eventually gets both himself and Chris into trouble later on in the novel.
Anthills of the Savannah began with a cabinet meeting. When the meeting was done outside of the palace was a crowd of people from Abazon who were trying to get to meet the President. The president has caused them to suffer from drought due to shutting down the water-holes in the province. President Sam refuses to meet with the delegation of Abazon. After the whole situation between the president and the delegation the president ordered Ikem to meet with the delegation to inform them that the president was far too busy and could not meet. Ikem became very respected by the Abozonians as the famous editor of the National Gazette. When Ikem left the delegation he was pulled over by the traffic police because of some misdemeanor. Later on it revealed that Ikem was being followed by the State Research Council agents who needed proof that Ikem visited the delegation in order to be able to accuse him of treason for siding with the rebellious Abazonians. Soon after the incident the president ordered the National Gazette to fire Ikem. At first the president wanted Chris Oriko to fire Ikem but Chris refused to. After Ikem was fired he made a speech at the University of Bassa. The next day his speech was quoted wrong in the Gazette giving the idea that he wants the President dead. Ikem was

However, Africa is conceptualized as a continent that is riddled with poverty and savagery. The misconception of Africa and its identity was induced by Western colonizers, that oppressed not only the colonized but also their culture and traditions. The colonizers gave inaccurate, ambiguous, and self glorifying accounts of Africa. However, Achebe disregards these deceptive stories of his home, and strives to give a scrupulous and authentic view on Africa's culture and traditions through his novel, Things Fall Apart. The painting I chose to do is called “Landscape With Willows”. This portrait is made by Alexander Young Jackson (A.Y. Jackson). To make this painting Jackson travelled to Quebec and sketched the image out. Then, he returned and made his rough sketch into a painting. To show his painting as a spring/summer day. He used different shades of neutral colours such as green, blue, yellow and some red. The painting looks like a plain field with some trees in the middle and in the background. There is not a lot of detailed paint work done besides on the trees in the middle and the fence to the side. The painting looks simple and plain because of the colours and the design used.…

A savanna, or savannah, is a grassland ecosystem characterized by the trees being sufficiently widely spaced so that the canopy does not close. The open canopy allows sufficient light to reach the ground to support an unbroken herbaceous layer consisting primarily of grasses.[1][2][3] The oak savanna is a common type of savanna in the Northern Hemisphere. Some classification systems[which?] also recognize a grassland savanna from which trees are absent.[4] This article deals only with savanna under the common definition of a grassy woodland with a significant woody plant component.…

The Grassland (Savanna) is nothing but grass, shrubs and isolated trees. The grasslands can be located between a tropical rain forest and a desert. Unlike the rainforest, the Savanna Grassland happens to not have enough rainfall to support a forest. Savanna’s especially are known to be tropical grasslands and are found on either side of the equator, right on the edges of the more tropical rainforests. Savanna’s are usually warm year round but not desert warm. The two seasons that conflict with each other are long dry, season known as winter and a very wet season, called summer. The only time the grassland is sort of cold or chilly is during…
