Anne Frank: One of the Most Inspiring Writers of Modern Times
Have you ever heard about Anne Frank’s life? Anne frank is one of the most famous Jewish victims of Holocaust. During the Second World War, she wrote a diary relating her life and this diary became widely known around the globe. Anne Frank’s life can be divided into three main periods: before the hiding, during the hiding and after the hiding.
It is important to begin with Anne Frank’s life before the hiding. First of all, she was born on June, 12th, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany. Next, she moved to Amsterdam in the Netherlands in 1934 because her father had got a new job there. Besides, they were trying to escape from Germany as the Nazis had gained control over the country. After that, in May 1940, Germany invaded the Netherlands, and the new government began to persecute Jews. During this period, Anne received a diary as a thirteenth birthday present. In her diary, she wrote not only about her personal life but also about Jewish life during this period. In July 1942, Anne’s sister, Margot, received a call-up notice ordering her to go to work camps so Otto Frank, Anne´s father, decided that the family had to move out.
Another important period in Anne´s life was during the hiding. To begin with, after receiving the call-up notice, Anne and her family went into hiding in makeshift quarters in an empty space at the back of Otto Frank's company building, which they called Secret Annex. After two weeks, the Van Pels family joined them and then, in November, a dentist called Fritz Pfeffer moved too. During the confinement, most of Anne's time was spent reading and studying, and she regularly wrote in her diary. Anne found in it a very close friend and she wrote in it every aspect of her life. In fact, she wrote a narrative of events as they occurred as well as her feelings, beliefs, and ambitions. The teenage girl spent two years in hiding without ever once stepping outside the dark, damp portion of the building.
Last but not least, the period after the hiding is the last period in Anne´s life. First of all, the German secret police stormed into the Secret Annex and arrested everyone hiding there on August, 4th, 1944. Next, they were shipped off to Camp Westerbork, a concentration camp in the Netherlands. After that, they were transferred to the Auschwitz camp in Poland in September. When they arrived, women and men were separated so Anne did not see her father again. After several months of hard labor hauling heavy stones and grass mats, Anne and Margot were again transferred to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany. Finally, Anne and her sister came down with typhus and died within a day of each other in early March. Anne Frank was just 15 years old at the time of her death.
In conclusion, Anne Frank´s life can be divided into three main periods. The first period is before the hiding, the second is during the hiding and the last one after the hiding. Anne’s life is very inspiring for a lot of teenagers and her diary became very famous because it is a true life experience based on one of the most horrible periods of modern history.
