Animal Should Not Be Kept in Zoo
In Luke 7, when John the Baptist sends his disciples to find out if Jesus was the Messiah, Jesus tells them, “Go back and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind see again, the lame walk, those suffering from virulent skin-diseases are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, the good news is proclaimed to the poor.”
So, who are the poor? The poor are those who are in need of the help of God; those who are open to the plan of God in their lives; those who are simple hearted; the humble. When Elizabeth hears the ‘good news’ (Lk 1:19) that was announced to Zachariah, she acknowledges that the Lord has removed her humiliation of being barren (Cf. Lk 1:25). When Mary sings her magnificat in the presence of Elizabeth, she would say, “The Lord has looked upon the humiliation of his servant” (Lk 1:48).
In short, being poor simply means being open to God. It is to those who rely, depend on God that the Good News is proclaimed. And it is to us that the Good News is proclaimed.
If we consider the Good News as a message, then, it is liberty to captives – the experience of freedom from all that binds us including sin; it is healing to the sick. It is the promise of the favorable year (kairos), the time of Grace. So Good News is not a set of information. It is an experience! Again, the Good News is a community and personal experience with Jesus. It is the possibility to experience God in the person of Jesus. Jesus Christ is the Good News.
This is what actually amazed the hearts of those listeners in the synagogue, as Jesus said: “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing” (Lk 4:21). In other words Jesus was saying, “The times that Isaiah prophesied are here. It is possible to experience the Good News in my person!”
Therefore, today Jesus is bringing hope, joy and favor to us. On the table of his altar we will have the greatest opportunity of being able to experience Jesus in person. He is the living word that has power to change

It reminds people of the love of God and his mercy, and yet causes people to remember His holiness and the truth of His words at the same time. Although this message isn’t perfect, it does provide a strong balance to some of the common teachings that are deceiving people in this generation. Such a message, if preached today, could help the church to wake up from its slumber, and help to prepare believers for the return of…

The Gospels proclaim that Jesus’s life and ministry provide the answer to those questions. I agree with this thought because it explains a reasonable and no-prejudice belief for individuals who wants to help the poor people and inviting them to discover their talents and put them to use them to improve their community and their own well-being. Besides, it is also correct to believe that there will be always needy people in this world no matter if we help them or not and sometimes their deprived situation is not either their fault or nor link with the environmental factors. From the moral responsibility that Bible teaches us , the affluent citizen has the duty to support the poor people because as Moses and Jesus stated that “there will always be poor among us" (Engelbrecht,2009 )Thus, while the poverty is inevitable, as children of God, God expects from us to be generous to the poor people and God will bless us in all our…

Christ calls the most unlikely people “blessed” at the start of His Sermon on the Mount as read in Matthew 5:1-12. Tod Lindberg has offered a rather in depth analysis of these in his essay on “What the Beatitudes Teach.” Lindberg points out a pattern in the beatitudes. They start with the most oppressed and seemingly hopeless people and progress to those that suffer for their right doing.…

Jesus was more than just the proclaimer of the kingdom of God but He carried the kingdom of God to men thru His teachings and works. The point of emphasis is on the fact that these were Jesus’ own words and actions or those that he sent out in His name. God chose to work thru Jesus. He knew that a new age had begun and this was good news unto man. It was required of men to personally respond to Jesus in faith and discipleship in order to enter the…

The deserving poor more like the working poor. An example of someone in the deserving poor would be someone that lives in a third world country. People from third world countries were not given the same opportunities as we are given here in the United States, such as education. Being well educated can mean the difference between having choices and better opportunities and a better paying job. This undeserving poor may not depend on welfare or government assistance for the rest of their lives if it was in their…

The Christian message, a universal message, appealed to many people. In the Sermon on the Mount, the only full sermon existing from Jesus, a section called “The Beatitudes” lists all of the blessed people. Jesus blessed the oppressed, the hungry, the merciful, the peacemakers, and the pure in heart in his sermon. The Christian message of hope appealed to those out of power and suffering under the rule of the Roman authority, because the Christian message gave people hope and a thought of salvation. The Sermon on the Mount, given by Jesus, encompasses the Christian message of hope. In addition because of the simplicity and directness of the Christian message, people could easily catch on to the message.…
